welcome back

Welcome back to my Bear Blog.

I'm increasingly done with social media. Instagram has been clinging on by a thread. So few people see my posts - although I'm hugely grateful to those who do, and take the time to interact - and the content thrown up by the algorithm is increasingly grim. I found myself doomscrolling with little purpose so I logged out of my accounts, apart from the one I need for work. I may check in, every now and then, via my Mac.

Back in the mid 1990s I loved blogging. There seems to be a resurgence of interest in blogs, and also a more analogue way of life in general. I think blogging may be the antidote to doomscrolling.

A possibly unpopular opinion - I do love AI! Not for creative writing but for automation, daily processing of my notes in Obsidian, the boring and tedious admin, and for tasks such as the batch review of over 9000 notes. I have a daily system in place that looks through my to do list, works with any notes I've created (in Obsidian or a few other places), and collates its findings in my Daily Note. The sort of stuff I couldn't be bothered to do but my OCD appreciates.

AI can do so much more than plagiarise or replicate work. I do have concerns about the resources required and environmental impact but, equally, I think that AI is getting a bad rap and taking the flack where it might not be 100% deserved.

I'll write more about my AI interactions and integrations, as well as a new tool called Recall that is proving to be a great find.

And, of course, there will be mention of my beloved sheep and lambs, Zippy the bull, and our wandering hens.
